Mission

Our mission is to present high calibre ballet performances to the Greater Toronto public. Moonlight Ballet inspires and impacts its dancers through its focus on a non-hierarchical creative process and a well-being-centred approach. Through its commitment to frequent performance, Moonlight Ballet serves those who want to connect through art.

With a focus on new creations in the classical and neo-classical ballet vocabulary, we illuminate new stories, characters, and imaginary realms.

Alena Loboda

Artistic Director

Alena Loboda is a ballerina and choreographer based in Toronto and is the founder and artistic director of Moonlight Ballet. Alena founded Moonlight Ballet to bring together talented ballet artists with a passion for expressive performance and creating new works in the classical and neoclassical ballet vocabulary. The company works to present ballet in the Greater Toronto Area, especially to people that have never seen a ballet before, and create imaginative productions that connect people through art.

Alena found herself enchanted with classical ballet at a young age when the art form challenged her to explore the beauty in every emotion, both positive and negative. This led to her experimentation with choreography as well as a furthering of her education in the Vaganova method abroad at the Perm State Choreographic College (Perm', Russia), the Kiev State Ballet School (Kiev, Ukraine), and Koltun Ballet Boston (Boston, USA).

Alena's choreography and performance won the Audience Choice Award at Lights Dance Festival 2018. She has danced for Columbia Classical Ballet, (Columbia, SC), Coastal City Ballet (Vancouver, BC), and in Toronto at Little Pear Garden Dance Company, Kulkat Entertainment, Medusa Entertainment, MM Entertainment, Diamond Dancers and Dangerous Beauty Entertainment in addition to Moonlight Ballet and Ballet Reveries.

Alena also directs and dances for Moonlight Ballet's event entertainment branch, Ballet Reveries, providing premium bespoke ballet entertainment for public and private events.
